Turtle Bay Beach is a hidden gem located at the northern edge of Hawksnest Point on St. John, USVI. Once part of the exclusive Caneel Bay Resort [currently CLOSED], this small stretch of white sand offers a tranquil escape with incredible views across the Durloe Channel to Henley Cay, Ramgoat Cay, and Lovango Cay. Perfect for sunseekers, the beach enjoys warm early afternoon sunshine and gentle shade later in the day.

This north-facing beach is also a notable piece of pop culture history, having been featured in the 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Its natural beauty and serene setting made it an ideal backdrop for the iconic shoot.

For adventure seekers, Turtle Bay Beach offers excellent snorkeling opportunities along both sides of the bay, particularly near the rocky coral outcroppings at Turtle Bay Point. Expect to encounter vibrant marine life including tropical fish, colorful corals, sea turtles, and stingrays. Be aware that wind and waves tend to pick up as you move westward.

To reach Turtle Bay Beach, head south from Cruz Bay on North Shore Road (Route 20). The main entrance and gatehouse to Caneel Bay Resort will appear on your left. Note: Caneel Bay Resort remains closed.
